Don`t cry for me argentina
It won't be easy You'll think it strange When I try to explain how I feel That I still need your love After all that I've done You won't believe me All you will see Is a girl you once knew Although she's dressed up to the nines At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen
Don't cry for me Argentina

And as for fortune and as for fame I never invited them in Though it seemed to the world They were all I desired They are illusions They're not the solutions They promise to be The answer was here all the time I love you and hope you love me
Don't cry for me Argentina
Don't cry for me Argentina
Have I said to much?

A popular song
"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" is the best-known song from the 1976 musical Evita with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Sung by the title character Eva Perón, it was titled "It's Only Your Lover Returning" before Rice settled on the eventual name. It appears early in the second act as Evita addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Casa Rosada and features a sweeping melody tied to broad emotional themes of regret and defiance, characteristic of Lloyd Webber's most popular songs.
The song shares its tune with Oh What a Circus from the same show.
